Finally heading back to Lebanon after almost 3 yea Finally heading back to Lebanon after almost 3 years. 3 years! And this time with all three of our kids ☺️
I’m very fortunate to say I usually go every summer, and very thankful for all the opportunities I’ve had to go back to Lebanon ♥️

So excited to visit family, friends, and support my many favorite restaurants and businesses, and the new ones! The kids are old enough now to appreciate and learn more about our culture and their roots, and I’m looking forward to sharing all of that with them.

Get ready for all the knafeh, za’atar, beautiful views, homey village videos and Instagram stories! I have some catching up to do 🥰 Please DM or comment your favorite spots!

There are many Lebanese returning to Lebanon this summer, and I hope more (including non-Lebanese!) join us in coming back and supporting in anyway we can.
Love these photos with our kids helping in the kit Love these photos with our kids helping in the kitchen ♥️

I try to involve them as much as possible- they enjoy it and it’s an opportunity for me to teach them about our culture and cuisine.

Dad’s famous and often requested semesmeye desse Dad’s famous and often requested semesmeye dessert! Chewy, tasty caramel-like bites made with toasted sesame seeds and Arabic syrup (Attar).

This was as close as I could get to a recipe the first time around since there are variances depending on how thick or runny your syrup is, and how long you cook them for!

Blessed Good Friday 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 On Blessed Good Friday 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

On Good Friday, Catholics remember Christ’s crucifixion and grieve for his death. In our hometown in Lebanon, parishioners reenact the 12 stations of the cross. One person holds the cross on his back and the parishioners travel station to station (typically throughout the church and homes through the village) to pray. At 3 pm, the time Jesus died, a prayer service is held.  After the service, the priest blesses the 2amah Maslouk (boiled wheat) that parishioners prepared.
At our Maronite church in Cleveland and in most Maronite Churches, the parishioners will bring flowers and place them on the alter as they come in to church. During the service, the statue of Christ is taken off the altar and placed in a coffin with a few flowers around it. The coffin is carried around the church and then held in the front of the church for parishioners to cross under and touch for a blessing.  The flowers from Good Friday are passed out to the parishioners after communion at Easter midnight Mass and masses on Easter Sunday.
