Deyim, Deyim ✝️🙏🏼 Blessed Epiphany Pra Deyim, Deyim ✝️🙏🏼 Blessed Epiphany

Praying for peace this Epiphany and always.

Awamat is traditionally made for Epiphany and one of our favorites. Link to guest recipe will be shared in my @yourlebanon stories #Epiphany #Peace

Epiphany is a Christian feast day commemorating the visit of the Magi, the baptism of Jesus, and, I just learned, the wedding at Cana 🙏🏼
Stuffed Cabbage, Malfouf 🫶🏼 A favorite in ou Stuffed Cabbage, Malfouf 🫶🏼 A favorite in our home ❤️ Our son Fady loves making these with me, and I take any opportunity I get to teach our kids the recipes that have been passed down to us. What are some other recipes you enjoy making with your kids? Full recipe and steps below ❤️

Malfouf Recipe:
Cut out cabbage core and boil until the leaves are soft, 15 minute or so.
Cut out firmer cabbage rib on each leaf and set aside
Stuff with this hashwe mix:

2 pounds beef 80%
2 cups and 1/4 cup jasmine rice (uncooked, rinsed a few times until the white starch at top stops reappearing, NOT soaked)
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon
2 tablespoon Tomato paste

Add cabbage ribs and extra leaves to bottom of pot to prevent rolled leaves from burning.
Stuff leaves and lay in pot, leaving the center slightly open if possible.
Add a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil, lemon juice , pinch of salt, pinch of dried mint and a few peeled garlic in-between the rolls.

Add a plate upside down to hold the leaves in place as they cook
Add boiling water up to the plate
Cook on medium and simmer on low for 1-1.5 hours (you can check the open center of the pot for how high the remaining water is)
Squeeze lemon juice over rolls before serving. Serve with side of Laban yogurt 💫
Post for Attention* I am pulling myself out of pos Post for Attention* I am pulling myself out of post hibernation to bring attention to the fundraisers I’ve been doing and sharing in my stories for @thepcrf @unrwausa and @aneraorg 🙏🏼 The next will be with @pahscle, please visit their page for details ❤️

I am so grateful for our incredible Cleveland community and the work we continue to do to support and uplift each other, especially now.
We raised $4000 last night for @unrwausa and @thepcrf humanitarian aid at our @arabamericanscle third annual networking event.
Thank you @omarkurdi20 , @dinofaraj , the rest of the AAC Board, for putting this event together and for including me on the panel 🫶🏼

Unfortunately, like most, my content views have plummeted since I began sharing in October (thanks IG 👍🏼) but I still don’t have it in me to create new content right now so here I am with this beautiful Palestinian za’atar and zeit serving dish my friend Nivin got me 🫶🏼

I grew up pre-mixing high quality, Middle Eastern, cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil with our za’atar blend before eating it (which is why I make and sell the @terraneanherbs za’atar evoo spreads) Last year, a few of my Palestinian friends got me hip to dipping the bread in the oil then in the za’atar and now I do both 🫶🏼

Please check out the story collection highlight on my profile that I had created with all the humanitarian fundraising organizations I recommend, and for my USA friends, how we can continue to reach out to our reps and any more action updates. Ya Rab🙏🏼
