Shawarma can be made with lamb, chicken, turkey and beef. Our guest recipe here uses beef marinated in a special sauce over night and then oven roasts the shawarma. You can also set the dish under broil at the end for a couple minutes to make the meat slightly crispier (like off a shawarma rotisserie)

Ingredients
Beef Marinade
- 3.3 pound beef strips (1.5 kilo)
- 1/2 orange juiced
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic minced
- 1/2 cup white vinegar or juice of one lemon
- 1/4 tablespoon mustard
- 1/2 cup yogurt
- 1 tablespoon pepper paste
- 1 tablespoon turmeric
- 1 tablespoon 7 spices
- 1 tablespoon salt or to taste
- 1/2 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1/2 tablespoon black pepper
- 1/2 tablespoon cumin
- 1/2 tablespoon hot pepper
- 1/2 tablespoon nutmeg
- 1/2 tablespoon cardamom
- 1/2 tablespoon anise powder
- 1/2 tablespoon ginger powder
- 1/2 tablespoon onion powder
- 1/2 tablespoon garlic powder

Instructions
- Combine all Beef Marinade ingredients. Marinate beef strips for 6-12 hours (or overnight) in bag with mixture.
- Add beef strips to dish with diced onion and cook in oven for 25-30 minutes at 400 F (200C)
- Serve with warm pita and fresh veggies including chopped tomatoes, onions, chopped parsley and pickles.
